Hash Holes
A while back, a friend pulled out a surprise joint that he wanted to smoke with me. He had me light it, and as we smoked it down, I was shocked by how unique it was. He told me to look directly down the burning end. I did, and I was surprised to see a donut shape of ashes with what looked like wax in the center of the ashes. Little did I know, I was experiencing a hash hole for the first time.
What is a hash hole?
A hash hole is a marijuana cigarette (joint) that contains flower rolled around hash for extra potency and a different high. When the joint is lit, the flower burns around the hash located at the center, forming the hash hole.
"Donut" holes
Hash holes may also be referenced as donut holes because of the way the joint looks when it is burning.
What is hash?
Hash is a slang term for hashish, a potent form of cannabis that exists in a malleable, solid form. It can be molded into different shapes, and in our case, it is formed into a long, thin cylinder and placed inside the joint.
Why are hash holes so popular?
Hash holes are a form of an infused joint that hit much harder than a standard joint. Because of the concentrated hash at the center, hash holes give a much more potent experience to the user.
Where can you pick up a hash hole?
When you buy a hash hole, it's an opportunity to support a small business. Next time you go to the dispensary, ask them if they have any hand-rolled hash holes from small businesses in the area. Many small companies put in hard work and substantial effort into putting together the perfect hash holes for your enjoyment.
How do I roll a hash hole?
If you want to roll a hash hole yourself, there are a couple of keys that make it doable. For starters, when you first put the flower down, you want to compress it well so that you can roll cleanly around the hash. If I'm not using my hash-hole press, I will use a credit card or ID to push it down.
Pick up 0.3 grams to 1 gram of hash from the dispensary, and use your fingers to roll it into a thin cylinder that is shorter than the flower in your joint. Place it lengthwise in the center of the flower, then pick up the paper and roll around the hash. Use your fingers to push the flower in where needed.
Once you stick it closed, make sure you light the joint evenly (I prefer the Dutch crown over the twist for even burning), and voila, you have a hash hole.
