Why "1235"?
The following series of numbers is the start of the Fibonacci Sequence - Can you find the pattern before reading the next section?
0 1 1 2 3 5 8 13 . . . .
See something familiar? This sequence is formed by adding the previous two numbers to get the next number. Starting with 0 and 1, 0 + 1 = 1, then 1 + 1 = 2, 1 + 2 = 3, etc. A spiral can be made by drawing squares on consecutive sides of the final shape, each side length being one of the values of the Fibonacci Sequence:
The the golden spiral and golden ratio (which stems from this sequence) also appear all throughout our physical reality - from plants all of the way up to the structure of galaxies. There are many examples online to explore.
The golden ratio comes out to approximately 1.618. Some mathematicians believe that the golden ratio is proof of a higher being's presence in this world. This ratio has fascinating mathematical properties, including that its reciprocal (1 ÷ 1.618) is equal to the same decimal value (0.618), and vice versa.
This ratio permeates much of Leonardo da Vinci's artwork, the most prominent being his Mona Lisa and Vitruvian Man. He spent much of his life working to understand the ratio and reflect its properties in his art.
Did you know that there is a way to determine beauty mathematically? By applying the golden ratio to various proportions within our face (for example, the height of our head divided by the width), we can more objectively determine a person's beauty. Beyonce is said to have one of the most beautifully proportioned faces of humanity.
So, why 1235?
